SMArtCool Project
Elastocaloric heat pumps for efficient air conditioning
As part of the SMArtCool project, we are working with industrial partners to develop a mobile elastocaloric cooling system for use in automobiles. The research work includes the optimization and processing of elastocaloric materials (shape memory alloys SMA), the specification of system requirements for the use of elastocaloric air conditioning systems in mobile applications, and the development, realization and evaluation of elastocaloric systems based on the so called Seelecke register and on a heat pipe concept.
