HoloAMS

Many industrial components must be manufactured with great precision in order to fulfill the quality requirements of highly engineered complete systems. 100 percent quality inspection and documentation are often required,  but turn out to be uneconomical in many cases. This applies in particular to mass-produced components that cost little but – once installed in high-quality products – can cause extensive damage if they are defective. Purely qualitative and random quality inspections are no longer sufficient here.

Reliable and cost-effective inspection of functional surfaces

HoloAMS (Holographic Automated Measuring System) enables automated optical 3D measurement of component surfaces with precision in the micrometer-range and can be integrated into the production line. The optical measurement system measures the entire component surface in 2D and 3D, thus detecting particles, discolorations, scratches, dimensional accuracy and roughness. Fraunhofer IPM develops these systems according to customer requirements, deploying HoloTop sensors along with various other sensors and actuators to solve the measurement task reliably and economically. The components can be fed manually or by means of a robot.

HoloAMS thus enables 100 percent inspection of many components in the production cycle: reliably, quantitatively and at reasonable costs.

HoloTop sensors for 3D surface measurement and defect detection

HoloAMS captures the topography of components based on digital multi-wavelength holography with interferometric accuracy. The HoloTop sensors developed by Fraunhofer IPM are at the heart of the system.
