Photoacoustic probe for medical imaging
In the PASMIE project, Fraunhofer IPM together with four other project partners is developing a photoacoustic probe for medical imaging.
By combining optical and acoustic methods, photoacoustic imaging enables real-time visualization of soft biological tissues and thus the early detection and treatment of tumors or tissue changes.
The focus of Fraunhofer IPM in the project is on the development of highly sensitive and particularly low-noise electronics for the optimized processing of ultrasonic signals, an integrated solution for the light sources and improved system integration.
