We will be showcasing optical systems for inspecting the dimensional accuracy and identifying surface defects of formed sheet metal parts in the production line. We will also present a concept for marker-free tracing of continuous strips based on our Track&Trace Fingerprint technology.

F-Scanner

The quality and functionality of products are determined by the quality of their components' surfaces. This entails high demands on surface coatings and cleanliness and accordingly the need for powerful monitoring methods. Fraunhofer IPM's fluorescence-based laser scanners inspect surfaces directly in production or in the lab.

Inspect-180°

The camera-based inspection system enables inline quality control of large components on a conveyor belt. The system inspects the outer contours and texture of components with sub-millimeter precision without specific component handling.

Inspect-360°

Manufacturers of cast or milled parts are increasingly required to inspect and document 100 percent dimensional accuracy and surface finish of parts. Automated inspection requires specific component handling, which makes the inspection process slow and uneconomical. Fraunhofer IPM's optical inspection system Inspect-360° MP examines the entire surface of components in free fall – regardless of type and without specific handling. In the process, Inspect-360° MP also detects hard-to-reach areas of complexly shaped components

Track & Trace Fingerprint Inline

Measurement data obtained in the production process provide valuable information for process optimization. For components or semi-finished parts to be unambiguously referenced to this data, they need to be unambiguously identified at each stage of production. Track & Trace Fingerprint by Fraunhofer IPM enables component identification and tracing with no need for additional markers. This makes it suitable even for mass-produced parts.
