A smartphone-based dosimeter of the exposure to toxic gases

For laboratory tests, the QR codes with the gas-sensitive coatings are integrated into a customized gas measuring cell.

Gas sensitive colorimetric coatings deposited on QR-codes can be analyzed via smartphone.
Within the project SnapGas, a smartphone-based sensor system is being developed that reliably detects toxic gases. The gases are determined quickly and selectively by means of colorimetric indicators. The sensor is constructed as a gas-sensitive label using an inkjet printing process. The reading of the gas-dependent color change is to be camera-based, e.g. via smartphone. This allows, for example, a cost-effective and immediate human protection for the chemical and petrochemical industry.
